People insight, locked to your strategy

Turning feedback into action

Actioning employee feedback can be a shot in the dark. We change that: weaving what your people say, the numbers, and your strategy into one clear read on whether you're set up to deliver your plan.

How we do this

We make sense of what your people have said to enable impactful, effective action. By embracing open-text verbatim data, we bring insight and understanding to your people's feedback. And we do this at scale.

We deliver quick access to intelligence that informs what needs doing, how to address it and where to start for most impact.

Our project and consulting packages provide you with the intelligence you need to inspire your people and create a lasting engagement.

Options range from data tagging that enriches the data your analysts are working with, to offering a full partner support package that acts in service of your people strategy and initiatives. We work with you to create the solution that best fits your need, drawing from the following…

And we anchor it to what your business is actually trying to do (your growth plan, your own frameworks, in your language) so insight becomes a tool for planning, not another survey report.

Segmentation & Tagging

Fast access to previously unseen employee insight with new segments tagged to individual employee data

Clustering your people's verbatim comments in order to quantify and explain the feedback with the ability to understand the scale and importance of the topics raised - providing your analysts with employee-level segments to enrich their insights.

Pulse Survey

An insight project leveraging our advanced open-text insights. Pulse your people on the strategic imperatives (Engagement, Leadership, Culture, L&D…)

Best practice survey design enabling your people to feel valued, delivering fast access to key insights and targeted, prioritised initiatives. Know what to do, and how to do it.

Engagement Program Insight Partner

An evolving program of pulse surveys and insight-driven intervention that works hand-in-hand with your people strategy

End-to-end design and execution of your pulse surveys that builds a virtuous circle of targeted, actionable insight that informs HRBPs, People Leaders and HR Policy. All supported by specialist expert leadership and team coaching if needed.

Who we are

A specialist people-insight consultancy - not just a survey tool

The survey is the straightforward part. The value is asking the right questions, knowing what the feedback means, where the risk sits, and what to do next.

Boutique by design: we balance scale with depth of thinking, and every engagement is interpreted by our team - you're never left alone with a dashboard...unless you want to be.

Our method

The Triple Lock

Three inputs. One direction. That's what turns a score into a decision.

Voice

structured & open-text feedback

Metrics

quantitative scores

Strategic direction

your objectives & value-creation lens

One clear direction of travel

The Triple Lock: three strands (Voice, Metrics and Strategic direction) weave together and merge into a single arrow pointing in one clear direction of travel.

Woven together, they point somewhere. A number becomes a clear read on whether the business is set up to deliver its plan - and tracing insight to root cause by locking it to your strategy is the part few others do.

The Treehouse team takes our overwhelming data and makes sense of it in a way we can actually do something with.

Head of Engagement

Value creation

People insight as a planning tool, not your last quarter scored.

Most engagement work tells you how last quarter felt. We give you a forward read on whether your people system is ready for what's ahead - where you're set up to deliver, and where to invest, and when, to keep growth on track.

Strategy-anchored

Insight tied to your objectives, not a generic benchmark.

Advisory-led

A person, not a portal - every engagement interpreted by our team.

Decision-ready

The “so what” and “now what”, not just a score.

Proportionate

Works from tens to thousands of people, without a heavy rollout.

Portfolio-capable

One consistent lens across a group, each business still bespoke.

Speed

An early read on people-system risk, including after an acquisition.

The link is well evidenced: the most engaged workforces show around 23%(Gallup) higher profitability than the least, engaged people are roughly 31%(Gartner) more likely to go above and beyond, and employees at Great Place to Work-Certified organisations are 38%(Great Place to Work) more likely to intend to stay long-term.

It's a correlation, not proven cause, and we treat it that way, but the pattern is consistent, and it's why boards increasingly watch people signals next to the financial ones.

The combination of insight analytics and team coaching create powerful shifts that can be traced both through the human engagements and the online analytics.

The founders

The founders who devised the method, present in everything we deliver.

Treehouse was founded on a simple conviction: the value in employee feedback isn't the survey, it's the interpretation - and that interpretation should serve the business's strategy, in its own language.

James de Souza, Co-Founder of Treehouse Analytics

James de Souza

Co-Founder

Two decades in data analytics. Seven years alongside the coaches who work with executive teams.

For twenty years, James's job was to make very large volumes of data usable by people who were not analysts. He owned a global insight platform at dunnhumby, with development teams across the US, UK and India and launches into Mexico and Turkey. Later, at the Post Office, he ran customer analytics, built a centre of excellence, won joint-venture funding for it and led a team of twelve.

He still gets his hands dirty when a problem warrants it. A convenience retailer needed to know what mattered to its customers, and to give six thousand product lines a category and a pricing strategy each, in time for a critical system launch that wasn't going to move. Half a billion rows of transaction data later, the Trading Director said it had looked very easy. It hadn't been. Looking easy is most of the job.

James learnt that reading people is harder than reading their data when, some years ago, a direct report expected something of him he wasn't giving (at least not in the way it was looked for from James). He found out too late to fix it easily, and left unchecked it would have cost the confidence of someone in their leader. The challenge was that different people on the same team needed different things from James, and no average would have told him which. Time spent in the same rooms as leadership coaches and Executive teams, has only served to reinforce that.

That conviction is also why Treehouse exists. Two decades of making customer data usable had given him a discipline the people side of organisations was still doing without. The gap came into focus during the pandemic, when how people work together turned out to matter at least as much as how their customers behave, and the tools for reading it were a decade behind the ones he knew. Two businesses can look identical from the outside and still need completely different things from the people inside them. Closing that distance is what Treehouse is for.

Marketing and insight, from both sides of the table.

Phil has spent twenty five years in marketing and insight, on both sides of the table. He's been the agency, running client services and database marketing at direct and CRM agencies. And he's been the client, owning customer marketing at BSkyB and then insight at the Post Office. Seeing both gives you a unique lens into the decisioning, the pressures and the demands, and thus an understanding of what insight gets used, how it is consumed and by whom.

Take the Post Office. Thousands of branches, and almost no customer data telling any of them what to sell, or what to say where. The received wisdom was that sorting that out branch by branch was either too hard or not worth the effort. The analytics centre of excellence that Phil and James built took it on anyway. They didn't wait for perfect data. They built the picture up as they went, and kept it moving. It became 'right message, right place', working out which branches should sell which products, where to add weight, and where to send the field sales force. Fewer than one branch in ten accounted for the bulk of the applications. The branches they targeted went on to roughly double the rest. The board wanted a story, not a spreadsheet. That's still the job.

That's how Phil works: start with the decision, not the dataset. It's the same instinct that led him and James to conceive and build the tool that became AURA, designed from the outset to connect what people say to the metrics and the strategy behind them, so a leadership team gets the how as well as the what, not a transcript and a dashboard to make sense of themselves.

That's the conviction behind Treehouse too: clients shouldn't need an analyst on staff to use their own people data, they need someone who's already done that work for them. Phil and James run it as a partnership, bringing in specialists for the work they don't do themselves. He'd rather get a rough, useful answer in front of people this month and sharpen it from there than land a perfect one too late.

About & FAQ

Questions you may have

We help you achieve your people strategy goals through actionable insight and a true understanding of how your people feel. Here are some of the questions you may have about how we do that. Read the full list below, or contact us to discuss more.

What is AURA?

AURA is our people-insight platform. It brings your survey metrics and open-text responses together in one view, connected to your strategic priorities, so you can see not just what people said but what it means and where to act. Accessible on mobile devices, laptops and office based platforms ensuring ease of participation for all employees. You can use it as a self-serve licence, alongside Treehouse's support, or a mix of both.

How quickly can we access insights?

Results start coming through in AURA as soon as responses arrive, so you can see initial trends live. Our first interpreted output, including the qualitative insight, is typically ready within a week of the survey closing, or within a week of you sharing existing survey data with us.

Can Treehouse send out the survey?

Yes, if you'd prefer that to running it yourself in AURA. Where you'd rather we handled it end to end, we can. Our goal is to ensure a seamless experience that suits your needs, keeping the administrative burden at your end to a minimum.

How are results shared, and does insight delivery include action planning?

Yes. Results are shared through AURA, configured to how you and your stakeholders want to consume them, from board-level summaries to team-level drill-down. In an initial sprint, we agree with you how each audience needs to see and use results, then set reporting up to match, rather than applying a single generic dashboard. We believe in giving you relevant, concise insight, not reams of data to search through, so action planning starts from a clear view of what matters and what to do next.
